Christine Baumgartner

Christine Baumgartner, 85, Bismarck, died October 24, 2009, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hague, ND, with Rev. Paul Eberle officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery in Hague. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 – 9:00 PM at Eastgate Funeral Service in Bismarck where a rosary/vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church in Hague. Christine was born on April 21, 1924, at Krassna, the daughter of George and Barbara Welk Deringer. She attended rural school. Christine married Albert R. Baumgartner on January 12, 1948, in Krassna. They farmed in the Strasburg-Hague area until 1966 when they moved to Bismarck, where Christine did daycare until her retirement. In 1982, they moved back to Hague where they spent their summers and enjoyed many happy winters in the Tucson area. Christine enjoyed making crafts of all kinds. She was especially talented in her crocheting and shared her work with many people. She enjoyed bingo, playing cards, and visiting with friends and family. After her husband, Albert, passed away in 2002, Christine’s family felt blessed to be able to take care of their mother. Grateful to have shared her life are her five sons and three daughters-in-law, Leo and Wilma Baumgartner of Bismarck, Tom Baumgartner of Hague, Jerry and Pat Baumgartner of Eden Prairie, MN, Ron and Janice Baumgartner of Aurora, CO, and Paul Baumgartner of Bismarck; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jane Borr and Shirley and Joe Glass, all of Bismarck; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Angie and Bob Murphy of Blue Earth, MN; four sisters-in-law, Aggie Baumgartner of Bismarck, Clara Deringer, Bertha Deringer, and Ann Baumgartner all of Strasburg; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Albert; an infant daughter; one son-in-law, Walter Borr; her parents; four brothers, Eugene, Pius, Victor, and Leo Deringer; and two sisters, Agnes Kuss and AnnaMary Schwab.
