Doris Wilson

Mrs. Doris Ebeling Wilson, 91, died November 26, 2004 in a Bismarck care center. Doris was born in Adams, ND, on April 30, 1913, to Emil and Martha Ebeling. The family moved to Brockway actually Paris, which is a community that no longer exists and homesteaded there. When Doris was six years of age, they moved to Terry, MT, where her father worked as a barber. Mrs. Wilson received her elementary and high school education in the Terry Public Schools. Upon completion of high school, she attended college at Minot State College, Minot, ND, and later received her B.A. degree from Eastern Montana College, Billings, MT. Doris was a teacher who started in the rural schools and ended her teaching career in Billings. She began teaching at Olanda, MT Olanda no longer exists, a rural school outside of Terry, MT. Later she became Assistant County Superintendent of Schools in Terry and did teach one year of Commercial at Terry High School. Doris then moved to Helena where she worked as a secretary and chief bill clerk in the Montana State Senate. Next, she moved to Bozeman, MT, where she served as secretary to Dr. R. R. Renne of Montana State College for four years. Finally, she moved to Billings and worked as a secretary at Lincoln Junior High and later at Billings Senior High. After completing her B.A. degree at Eastern Montana College, Doris taught fifth grade for fifteen years in the Billings Public Schools until her retirement in 1975. In 1940, she married Robert F. Wilson in Terry, MT. They were married 61 years until Robert's death in May, 2002. They have three children: R. Brent and his wife Dale of Denver, CO; Janis Rosenkranz and her husband James of Anoka, MN; and Karma Anderson and her husband Laurence of Bismarck, ND; one sister, Gladys Garton of Tubac, AZ, and one brother, LeVerne Ebeling of Billings, MT. Mrs. Wilson enjoyed dancing, bridge and ushering at Alberta Bair Theater in Billings, where she earned a name plate for 1000 hours of service which has been placed on a chair at the theater. She was a long-time member of the Community Concert Association. Doris also worked as an election judge for many years. She loved to travel and she and Robert saw most of the U.S., Canada, Hawaii, Alaska the Caribbean and the Bahamas. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church and Chrysolite Circle, the Elks, Yellowstone Valley Retired Teacher Association, American Association of University Women AAUW, and the Billings Historical Society. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Larry Dee; and two brothers, Lloyd & LeRoy Ebeling. Doris has six grandchildren: R. Seth Wilson Airon, Denver, CO; Dr. Shan Rosenkranz, St. Paul, MN; Erik Rosenkranz, Seattle, WA; Brynn Culloton Michael, Rochester, MN; Jordan Anderson Natalie, Minneapolis, MN; Joseph Anderson, Loveland, CO; and two great-grandchildren, Zoey and Ava Wilson. A memorial service is planned for summer 2005 TBA. Cremation has taken place Eastgate Funeral Home, Bismarck, ND.
