Evonne Daisy Choukalos

Evonne Daisy Choukalos 73, Bismarck, died of cancer at her home on June 13, 2013. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Larry Jahnke officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Service and will continue on Monday one hour prior to the service. Evonne was born on March 6, 1940, in Minnewaukan, ND, to Lewis and Hazel Volden Salisbury. She graduated from Minnewaukan High School in 1957 and went on to Minot State Teacher's College where she graduated and went on to teach school. Evonne married Richard "Dick" Choukalos and they moved to Bismarck in 1963. Together they ran and operated Farmers Insurance Group Agency for 20 years. She then went into real estate for 30 years as well as working for Pride for 19 years and Enable for the last 5 ½ years as a caregiver. Evonne's passion in life was always caring for others first before herself. She loved her care-giving career and taking care of everyone her whole life. Evonne leaves a special part of her with everyone she met and knew. She was loved by many because of her kindness and loving heart for people. Evonne was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church for many years while raising her family and later involved in all denomination churches. She was deeply loved and will be missed by her family and friends. Evonne is survived by her one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Patrick Whitlock of Lincoln, ND; one son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas and Mary Choukalos of Bismarck; four grandchildren, Chad Mayers of Mesa, AZ, Melissa Mayers of Bismarck, and Tavis and Trevor Choukalos of Bismarck; five great-grandchildren, Kimberlee, Trey, Tiera, Hannah, and Hailey Mayers; one great-great-grandchild, Alayna Rose Mayers; one brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Ardys Salisbury; one niece, Dawn Stoe; four nephews, Bobby and Ronnie Frunz, Dana Salisbury, and Chuck Choukalos; and special clients, Mavis Schlafman and Sharon Ficek. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her son, Steven; her father, Lewis; her mother, Hazel; her brother, David; and her sister-in-law, Dorothy.
