Rose Mann

Rose Mann, fondly known as "Rosie" by family and friends, died at home on Saturday, September 17, 2005, at the age of 79 after her valiant fight with cancer. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 22 at 11:30 a.m. at Church of St. Anne, Bismarck, with the Rev. Ed Wehner officiating. The burial service will be at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Belfield, North Dakota on September 22 at 4:00 p.m. CST. Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 21 at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a vigil service will be held at 8 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service. Born on June 8, 1926, Rose developed a strong work ethic and cheerful disposition in response to the challenge of the Depression years on the farm of her parents, Wallace and Nellie Haniuk. She graduated from eighth grade in Gorham, North Dakota, and at age 20, in the same town, married William Mann at St. Josephat Church on October 15, 1946. Rose devoted her years to raising five children and being a creative, practical housewife, but always found time to go dancing, teach bridge, and play cards with friends wherever she lived. Fishing and camping were Rose and Bill's greatest joy when the nest was empty. She was a member of St. Anne's Parish in Bismarck, and often enjoyed American Legion and Eagles Club events with her husband. In her later years, she spent many hours donating her time, as well as her beautiful embroidered and crocheted items, to Medcenter One and St. Anne's Auxiliary. Remembered as an outstanding cook, a crossword-puzzle whiz with an unequalled sense of humor, Rose will be missed by everyone. She is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Randy of Fargo, Daryl and Ellen of Dickinson, Rick and Sherrill of Beulah, Derwin and Tammy of Bismarck; one daughter and son-in-law, Mike and Mona Hagfeldt of Glasgow, Montana; 2 great-grandchildren; 13 grandchildren; 2 sisters: Joyce Kordon of Springfield, Oregon and Kaye Helms of Missoula, Montana; and one brother: Walter Haniuk of Springfield, Oregon. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Bill and her parents; three sisters: Olga Baranko, Anna Rodakowski, and Sophie Waul; and four brothers: Nick Haniuk, John Haniuk, Emil Haniuk and Mike Haniuk.
