Beatrice Wamsley

Beatrice "Bea" Wamsley, 93, Steele, died March 4, 2005, at a Steele care center. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:00 PM at United Methodist Church in Steele with the Rev. Perry Schnabel officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 - 9 PM and Monday from 9 AM - 9 PM at Eastgate Steele Chapel. Bea was born on April 1, 1911, on a farm near Steele, North Dakota, the daughter of John and Rebecca Kinnet Dougherty. She attended Steele Public School and she was employed at several stores in Steele. Bea also worked at the Golden Manor in Steele from 1972 to 1983. She enjoyed caring for others and she said they were some of her happiest years. Bea married Vincent Wamsley on April 28, 1932, at the Methodist Parsonage in Steele. He was a widower with two-year-old twins, Dean and Jean. In 1937, a very special son, Alan, was born. Material possessions were unimportant to Bea but she was generous and caring to her family. Her faith was strong and she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Bea played the piano beautifully and she never had a lesson. She liked to play, especially for her grandchildren, but needed a little coaxing. Her grandchildren remember that she always had their favorite candy and cookies in a special drawer in her kitchen and they helped themselves. Her family remembers the earlier years and Bea's wonderful holiday dinners and especially her apple pie and fudge. She is survived by her two daughters and one son-in-law, Dean and Thilmer Iszler and Jean Fortune, all of Bismarck; her grandchildren, Joe Wamsley, Jeff Kathy Wamsley, all of Bismarck, Kim Larry Kinev of Dawson, Craig Bonnie Wamsley of Casper, Wyoming, Jamie Roger Pfau of Fort Collins, Colorado, Corey Laura Wamsley of Hazen, Sheila Fortune of Houston, Texas, John Fortune of Houston, Texas, and Linda Iszler Blasczyk; twenty-four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vince; her beloved son, Alan and his wife, Sharon; her grandson, Dennis Iszler; her granddaughter, Anne Fortune; her son-in-law, Leo Fortune; five sisters, Mrs. Pearl Sherman, Mrs. Maude Holtz, Mrs. Mayme Collins, Mrs. Vina Martin, and Mrs. Ruth Kava; one brother, Raymond "Doc" Dougherty; and several nieces and nephews.
