Brock Bowerman

Brock Charles Bowerman, 27, Robinson, North Dakota, died October 31, 2004, at a Bismarck hospital as a result of heart complications. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, November 4, at Robinson Public School Gymnasium with the Rev. Valerie Kinlan officiating. Burial will be at Bethany Lutheran Cemetery in Robinson. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 3, from 2:00 - 7:00 PM at Eastgate Funeral Service in Bismarck and Thursday, November 4, from 9:00 AM - 12:00 Noon at Eastgate Steele Chapel. Brock was born on February 4, 1977, in Bismarck, the son of Bob and LaDonna Trautmann Bowerman. He attended Robinson High School, graduating in 1995. Brock loved playing basketball for the WPR Wolf Pack. Despite his heart condition, he gave 100%. Brock's intensity and three point shooting, gave the Wolf Pack fans many thrills. During the summer, you could find Brock playing baseball. He played T-ball, Peewees, WTR Babe Ruth, and Legion baseball. His love for the Minnesota Twins was evident in his memorabilia collection. Brock had many other passions in his life. He loved farming and his biggest joy was purchasing his Uncle Galen Bowerman's farm in April of 2004. Brock's 1976 green "The Hulk" Ford pickup was another passion. "The Hulk" won many first place prizes at truck pulls. Two of his biggest fans, Grandpa and Grandma Trautman, helped sponsor these events. Brock enjoyed all aspects of life, everything from darts to snowmobiling, to hunting, to water skiing. He recently took up bow hunting and on his first arrow, "hit" his deer. Brock was highly competitive in everything he played, even family board games. Winning was the only option. He loved his family. His grandma, Merna, kept everyone informed about Brock's health through the Steele Ozone. Brock and his brother, Brett, enjoyed many activities together. Brock always showed Brett who was the "Boss". Brock got a second chance to enjoy his passion for basketball through his sister, Brietta. He loved watching her play and "coaching" from the sidelines. He was looking forward to watching her play with the Jamestown Jimmies this year. Brock was blessed with finding love in his fiancÚe, Vanessa Gedrose. Vanessa has been by his side throughout his heart transplant surgery and recovery. His twenty-seven years of life has led his family through many tribulations. From being air-lifted to Minneapolis as a newborn, three open-heart surgeries, and lastly, his heart transplant in January of 2004. He never complained of his condition. He lived life to the fullest and put his heart in everything he did. Through organ donation, Brock was blessed with a new heart to receive a second chance at life. Brock too, has given someone a chance for sight through the donation of his eyes. He was a member of the Robinson Lions Club and a confirmed member of Bethany Lutheran Church. Brock is survived by his parents, Bob and LaDonna Bowerman of Robinson; his brother, Brett of Fargo, North Dakota; his sister, Brietta of Jamestown, North Dakota; his fiancÚe, Vanessa Gedrose of Robinson; his grandparents, Merna Bowerman, and Art and Velma Trautmann, all of Robinson; his aunts and uncles, Virgil and Deb Wisdom of Washburn, Sarah Bowerman, and Wes and Cindy Trautmann, all of Robinson, and Shawn and Lanna Slaby of Jamestown, North Dakota; his special great-aunt, Gladys Wick; and his cousins, Marissa and Grant Wisdom, John, Casey, and Maisie Patzner, Michael and Kelsey Bowerman, Chase and Courtney Trautmann, Molly and Abby Slaby, and Janelle Bowerman. Brock also leaves behind many special friends, including Jeff Dewitz. Jeff exemplified the definition of a friend. He always visited Brock when he was in California. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Charles Bowerman; his uncle, Rick Bowerman; his great-uncle, Galen Bowerman; his great-aunt, Olga Bowerman; and his great-uncle, Paul Chapman.
