Charles A. Nixon

Charles Abram Nixon, passed into glory on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at his home near Baldwin, ND, coming face to face with his Lord and Savior. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, January 30, at Century Baptist Church, Bismarck, with Rev. Dr. Willie Weaver officiating. Burial will be in the Baldwin Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday, January 29, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Charles was born August 1, 1929, in Quinter, KS, to Nathan Keene and Esther Goetchius Nixon. After growing up in Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri, and Eastern Kansas, Charles graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in animal husbandry in August 1951. He married Constance Ann Holt on September 12, 1951. Charles used his education and his love for agriculture in various capacities. In 1966, he met the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior. About a year later, he surrendered to God's call to preach the gospel. He pastored three churches in Kansas before moving with his family to the Fort Worth, TX, area in 1975 to study at Arlington Baptist College. He earned a BS in bible and was named Mr. ABC by the faculty. Following graduation, he and Connie were commissioned as missionaries by Worth Baptist Church and on January 1, 1979, arrived in North Dakota to reach Native Americans for Christ. His Lord enabled him to reach souls for Christ on seven different reservations in North Dakota, Montana, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan, working through families, and training Native Indians to lead their people. His emphasis was always to evangelize and teach. He leaves behind a legacy of service that serves as an inspiration to many who knew him. Charles is survived by his dear wife of 60 years, Constance Ann Nixon; his seven children, Charles "Chuck" Susan Nixon and their two daughters; Thomas Nixon; Trudy Wendell Allen and their five children; David Karen Nixon and their two children; Lisa Nixon Glenn Sparks, and their four children; Laurel Joe Weaver and their three sons; Christopher "Chris" Tina Nixon and their two children. He is also survived by many grandchildren-in-law and great-grandchildren; and his sister Shirley Harry Hamilton.
