Donna M Jensen

Donna M. Jensen, 84, formerly of Bismarck, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 3, 2012, – her "Alleluia Day". Services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, September 7, at Charity Lutheran Church with the Reverend Scott Bauman presiding. Internment will follow at the North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. Friday, September 7, at Charity Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Donna was born on October 22, 1927, in Brooten, Minnesota, the daughter of Coleman and Clara Lorentson. She graduated from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where she earned a degree in education. Donna married her high school sweetheart, Robert Jensen, on August 27, 1949, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Three children came to this union, son David, daughter Kathleen, and son Douglas. Donna joyously assumed the role of mother-in-law to Nancy and Peter and grandmother to Stephanie, Erik, Jacob, Lucas, Joshua, and Jordan. Donna was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose family was the pride and joy of her life. She treasured every moment with her family and took great delight in visiting them. Robert and Donna lived and worked in Minnesota, Missouri, Tennessee, Illinois, and Wisconsin prior to moving to Bismarck in 1987, where Donna worked at MedCenter One and Robert joined son David in his business. In 2004, Robert and Donna moved to Verona to live with son Douglas and grandsons Joshua and Jordan. Donna was a woman of deep faith and conviction. She served in various church leadership and teaching capacities throughout her life. Perhaps the shining achievement of Donna's life is the passing on of her faith in and relationship to Jesus Christ, her professed Lord and Savior. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Madison, and Charity Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Donna is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Reverends Kathleen and Peter Braafladt of Vancouver, Washington; her son and daughter-in-law, David and Nancy Jensen of Bismarck; and her son, Douglas Jensen of Verona, Wisconsin; her six grandchildren, Jacob and Lucas Braafladt, Stephanie and Erik Jensen, and Joshua and Jordan Jensen; and her sister, Doris Toddie of Rochester, Minnesota. Donna was preceded in death by her husband Robert and by her parents. When the evening gently closes in, and you shut your weary eyes, I'll be there as I have always been with just one more surprise. I was there to hear your borning cry, I'll be there when you are old. You were raised to praise the living Lord, to whom you now belong.
