Edna Holzworth

Edna Holzworth, 80, died July 11, 2006 at the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck, surrounded by her loving family. Services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday at the Bismarck Community Church, 1617 Michigan Avenue, Bismarck with Rev. Maury Millican officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM Friday at Eastgate Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service at the church. Edna was born on September 14, 1925, on the family farm near Burnstad, ND, the daughter of Gottlieb Sr. and Magdalena Nehlich Eiseman. She grew up and received her elementary education in the vicinity and helped on the family farm. She married Edwin Holzworth on July 1, 1946 at Napoleon, ND. They moved to Wishek, ND, where they resided until 1958 when they moved to Bismarck. She worked in housekeeping for Holiday Inn, Heup's Hotel, Knotty Pine Motel, and Nodak Motel until she no longer could work due to her health problems. Mr. Holzworth died in 1989. After Edwin's death, Edna resided in their home until August 30, 2004, when she entered Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center. Edna was a very kind and gentle woman and her beautiful, infectious smile would capture everyone's heart. She loved gardening, baking and embroidery. Most of all, she loved being with her family and grandchildren and always had cake, cookies, or kuchen ready to serve. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by her family. Edna is survived by her three daughters, Carolyn Dean Miller, Helen Jerome Klein, and Pamela Curtis Miller, all of Bismarck; one son, Dennis Julie Holzworth of Bismarck; one brother, Rueben Wilma Eiseman of Wishek, ND; eight grandchildren, Jodi Newton, Tracy Lipp. Cory Miller, Jamey Miller, Dustin Holzworth, Crystal Overbeck, Jason Klein, Matthew Overbeck and their families, which includes eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Eugene Delores Holzworth and Floyd Judy Holzworth, all of Bismarck; four sisters-in-law, Arlene Conitz of Bismarck, Alvina Hamel of Napoleon, Betty Holzworth of Bismarck, and Frieda Holzworth of Montana; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special friend, Tillie Miller of Bismarck. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1989; seven brothers, Christ, Clarence, Gottlieb, Gideon, Jake, John, and Ernest; and three sisters, Lydia, Martha and Rose. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center for the wonderful care that was provided for their mother.
