Elizabeth A Finneman

Elizabeth A. Finneman, 95, peacefully passed into the arms of her Heavenly Father, on Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. the Hour of Mercy at St. Vincent Care Center in Bismarck. Services will be held Saturday, April 16, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. MDT at the Church of St. Mary in Golva, ND, with the Reverend Russell Kovash officiating. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Golva. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. CDT in the Chapel of St. Vincent Care Center, Bismarck. Visitation will also be held at the Church of St. Mary, Golva, on April 15, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. MDT followed by a prayer service and rosary at 7:00 p.m. Elizabeth Ann Strohmayer, was born November 17, 1915, in Golva, ND, to Sebastian and Catherine Strohmayer. She was raised in Golva and graduated from Golva High School. On November 17, 1937, Elizabeth married Roman Finneman at the Church of St. Mary, Golva, ND. From this union they were blessed with eight children whom they raised on a foundation of great faith. Her family was honored with the Knights of Columbus Family of the Year Award in 1978. Elizabeth was a very devout Catholic. She belonged to St. Mary's Altar Society and study clubs. She taught people prayer and encouraged them to watch her favorite TV station, Eternal Word Television Network. She thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Elizabeth enjoyed horseback riding and playing basketball and softball. She loved playing pinochle, gardening, crocheting and cooking. She cooked and cared for numerous hired men and custom harvesting crews. She loved nature and would spend hours looking out her window at the deer, birds, squirrels and flowers. She also enjoyed her cat, "Patches." She had a wonderful sense of humor and was always making up rhymes to what she was hearing, feeling and seeing. She was a woman of great patience to be admired by all. Elizabeth is survived by five daughters, Doris Mike Berger, Golva, ND; Carol Dan Marrs, Bismarck, ND; Marge Bob Valeu, Bismarck, ND; Kathryn Finneman, Willmar, MN; Charlene Lee Weinreis, Golva, ND; and three sons, John Jo Finneman, Bismarck, ND; Charles Patty Finneman, Underwood, ND; and Paul Carol Finneman, Bismarck, ND; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roman, an infant daughter Margaret Mary, four sisters, two brothers, and her parents. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family to donate to the Church of St. Mary in Golva and to the chapel at Golden Valley Manor of Beach, ND.
