Elizabeth Thompson

Elizabeth Lovell Thompson, 91, Bismarck, ND, died Saturday, December 11, 2004, at a Medical Center in Waynesville, NC. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Friday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Linton, with the Rev. Kenneth Phillips officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael's Cemetery, Linton. Visitation will be 12:00 Noon - 9 PM Thursday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a rosary will be held at 8 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Elizabeth was born on May 22, 1913, in Hague, ND, the daughter of Michael and Johanna Keller Vetter. She was raised and educated in Emmons County, North Dakota where she married Chester Lovell on October 14, 1935 and farmed in the area until Chester's death. On August 10, 1983 Elizabeth married Bronald Thompson and resided in Bismarck. In 2002, because of ill health, she went to live with her daughter in Waynesville, NC. She was a dietitian at St. Anthony's Catholic School and then at Linton Hospital prior to retiring. Elizabeth was a member of Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Bismarck and a spiritual member of St. John's Catholic Church in Waynesville. Elizabeth is survived by her husband of twenty-one years, Bronald Thompson of Bismarck, ND; her daughter, Bernice Smathers and her husband, Carroll of Waynesville, NC; her son, Vic Lovell of Centertown, MO; two daughters-in-law, Ida Lovell of Jefferson City, MO, and Cindy Lovell of Bismarck, ND; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one stepson, and two step daughters-in-law, Mark and Char Thompson of Thompson, ND and Alice Thompson of Simi, CA; four step daughters and step sons-in-law, Audry and Dale Moug of Sioux Falls, SD, Judy and Loren Kappelman of Minneapolis, MN, Myrna and Glen Engle of Wahpeton, ND and Lois and Mike Delmore of Grand Forks, ND; 11 step grandchildren; and 5 step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Chester Lovell, who died in 1947; two sons, Al and Jerry Lovell; one sister, Brigetta Vetter; two brothers, Tony and Phillip Vetter; and one stepson, Curtis. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the American Heart Association or the Ruth Meier's Hospitality House.
