Jane Hamel

Jane Hamel, 73, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 29, 2015, at CHI St. Alexius Health Transition Care Unit, Bismarck. Services will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, April 1, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Tuesday, March 31, at Parkway Funeral Service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at 1:15 pm at the Napoleon City Cemetery. Jane was born July 2, 1941, to Milo and Vieanna Janko in Kintyre, ND. She attended country school in Kidder County and then went on to graduate from Bismarck High School. She married Ronald Hamel in 1963 and made their home and farmed north of Kintyre. Later, after Ron passed away, Jane moved to Bismarck where she had since resided. Jane worked at the south Burger King Restaurant for 34 years, under the most wonderful managers, Larry Roller and Sue Gartner. When she had to stop working due to her cancer, she said she missed her co-workers, afternoon coffee drinkers, and all of her many wonderful customers that she enjoyed talking to everyday. She considered them all her family. Jane enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved spending time with her family, where there was always a lot of laughter. She loved working in her yard and enjoyed her flowers. She was always energetic and kept herself busy. Jane always put others first. She was very kind-hearted and always humble. At the end, her faith in Jesus comforted her and gave her peace. She was an amazing, strong woman, who was an inspiration to her family and those around her. She will be greatly missed. Jane is survived by her children, Steven (Susan) Janko, Bismarck, Belinda (Robert) Dickson, Lincoln, and Scott (Kristy) Hamel, Des Lacs, ND; five grandchildren, Shannon (Darin) Johnson, Amber Hamel, Nicole (Matthew) Fellers, and Logan and MaCartney Hamel; three step-grandchildren, David (Sarah), Maria, and Libby Morse; five great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; one uncle, Edwin Kylmanen, AZ; and many cousins.
