Lillian Joan Offerman

Lillian Offerman, 88, Bismarck, died October 18, 2010, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Burial will be held at 2:00 pm Friday at the North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon until 9:00 pm Thursday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Lillian Joan was born October 12, 1922, at Fargo, ND, the daughter of Theodore Herman and Minnie Loberg Ellingson. She was raised near Harwood, ND, until age 10. Her family moved and she was schooled in Sheyenne and Oak Mound school districts. She graduated from North Dakota Progressive High School in 1939. She attended St. John's Hospital School of Nursing in 1941, graduating in 1944. Following her graduation, Lillian moved to Detroit, MI, where she married Jake Offerman in 1944. After Jake's military retirement, they lived in Valley City for five years, then moved to Ashley in 1964. Lillian worked proudly as a registered nurse in many cities until her retirement in 1980. In July 1991, they moved to Bismarck. Jake died on March 6, 1994. Lillian enjoyed her church memberships. She belonged to Women's Club in Ashley, and was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bismarck. She was a voracious reader and loved to knit and crochet. Lillian was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by her family and many good friends. She is survived by one daughter, Judy Duane Beyer, Alpena, MI; two sons, David Deborah Offerman, Lakeville, MN, and Dwight Offerman, Bismarck; her six grandchildren, who she was so proud of, Scott Robin Beyer, Stephanie Beyer Randall Cornelison, Chad Allison Offerman, and Jennifer, Jessica, and Paul Offerman and her great-granddaughter, Chandler Offerman; one sister, Gladys Kyle, Fargo; sisters-in-law, Betty Ellingson, Aberdeen, SD, Darlene Offermann, Sheldon, ND, Carol Ellingson, WA, Shirley Offermann, Linton, ND; brothers-in-law, Robert Fischer, Fargo, ND, and Pete Thompson and Herb Jean Offermann all of Sandpoint, ID; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake; her parents; four brothers, Edmund, Kenneth, Jerome, and Warren Ellingson; and six sisters, Margaret Cook, Eda Olson, Evelyn Brevik, Vivian Westrick, Florence Brevik, and Katherine Fischer.
