Linda Pinks

Linda M. Pinks, 56, Bismarck, died May 1, 2009, at Medcenter One Hospital, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday at Faith Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with Rev. Wes Aardahl officiating. Burial will be held in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck, followed by a luncheon at the Tumbleweed, Lincoln. Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon until 9:00 pm Thursday at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a prayer service and time of sharing will begin at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Linda Marie was born February 22, 1953, in Fargo, ND, the daughter of Violet Werre McPherson. She was raised in Elgin and graduated from Elgin High School. While living in Elgin she worked at Zacher’s Café and in the office at the newspaper. She moved to Bismarck in 1972, and worked at the Lighthouse Café, Holiday Inn, Village Inn Pancake House; where she met Gene, he was a cook and she was a waitress. She married Gene Pinks on May 11, 1973, in Bismarck, ND, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Linda worked at Qwest for over 25 years before retiring due to illness. During her career, Linda received many awards and recognition for her achievements in customer service and productivity. Linda was a mentor and a friend to many. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her pansies and petunias, caring for her kittens and her gambling trips to Prairie Knights, and Laughlin, NV. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, Taylor, Kaylee and Ben. Linda volunteered her time for Charles Hall Youth Services, and was honored with the award of, Volunteer of the Year. Linda is survived by her husband, Gene, Bismarck; her sons, Chris Marni Fargo, and Scooter Melissa, Bismarck; her grandchildren, Taylor, Kaylee, and Benjamin; her sister, Leta Norvin Clark, Carson; her uncle, Babe Sally Werre, Elgin; mother-in-law, Leona Pinks; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Gail Keith Fiechtner, Jeff Pinks, Karla Pat Evans, Janet Miller and Roger, Mary Al Heid, Paul Karla Pinks, and David Pinks; many dear nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends; and her four-legged friends, Sam, Pitty, Lou, and Flash.
