Lois Klaus

Lois Klaus, 84, Bismarck, died September 9, 2014, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 13, at Faith Lutheran Church, 1402 E Avenue C, Bismarck, with Rev. Rebecca Aardahl officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm Friday at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Avenue, Bismarck. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Lois was born on January 7, 1930, at McHenry, ND, the daughter of Henry and Ruby Knuth. She was raised and educated in Zap, ND, and graduated from Zap High School in 1947. She married Alvin Klaus in 1949. In November they would have celebrated 65 years of marriage. Lois and Al raised their three daughters in Bismarck. She worked as a secretary for Bismarck Public Schools from 1967 to 1989. Lois enjoyed interacting with the children through the years she worked at Northridge Elementary and Rita Murphy Elementary. Al and Lois were charter members of Faith Lutheran Church. Lois was the first female to serve as president of the church council. She was a Sunday school teacher and enjoyed choir and bible study. Lois enjoyed traveling with Al throughout the 50 states in their airstream. She also served as president of the ND Airstream Chapter. Lois enjoyed organizing family events; she was a go-getter, enjoyed challenges and was a natural leader. Lois and her three daughters loved spending time together shopping as a family. She enjoyed collecting Hummels, snow babies and reading. Lois lived a life based on her strong faith in God and the power of prayer. She always looked for the good in people. Lois adored her grandkids and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a wonderful and loving mother and held herself to high moral standards and expected those she loved to do the same. She was our mother and best friend. Lois is survived by her husband, Alvin, Bismarck; her daughters, Raye Tim Fast, Bismarck, LeeAnn Craig Olson, Glenburn, and Carol Kendall Brandt Aldridge, Towner; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; her sister, Evelyn Wisner, CT; and special friend, Marva Jorstad. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ruby Knuth; her brothers, George, Joe, and Mick; and her sisters, Marie, Alma and Millie.
