Marvin Krein

Marvin A. Krein, 75, Bismarck, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 10, 2007. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at Church of the Ascension in Bismarck with Rev. Marvin Klemmer officiating. Burial will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM at the ND Veteran's Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2 PM - 9 PM at Eastgate Funeral Service where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Marvin was born on February 10, 1932, at Lehr, ND, the son of William and Pauline Springer Krein. He grew up and attended schools in rural Kidder County. In 1953, he entered the U.S. Army, serving in Verdun, France, until 1955 when he was honorably discharged. He then moved to Bismarck and went to work for Western Concrete. On May 20, 1957, he married Min Knoll at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bismarck. Min passed away on June 20, 1999. Marvin worked for Pius Halter Trucking, Royce Produce, and Consolidated Freight, retiring in 1995. On April 24, 2004, he married Mary Meier Burgad at Church of Corpus Christi in Bismarck. Marvin enjoyed traveling and was a true kid at heart and was known for his unique sense of humor. He was a loving, caring husband, father, grandfather, and brother and was always giving of himself to help someone else. He is survived by his wife, Mary of Bismarck; his daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Todd Horn of Great Falls, MT; his son, Will Krein of Bismarck; his sister, Ione Schmidkunz of Bismarck; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Delmer and Sally Krein of Bismarck and Duane and Donna Krein of Mandan; his grandchildren, Jade Horn of Vancouver, WA, and Seth Horn of Great Falls, MT; his great-granddaughter, Mariya ; his stepchildren, Lorrie Glass of Bismarck, Shawn Kelli Burgad of Strasburg, and Cheryl Chad Schneider of Bismarck; and step-grandchildren, Jessica John Dietrich of Bismarck, Renae Glass of Bismarck, and Breanna and Bradyn Burgad of Strasburg; and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Min Krein; an infant sister; and his sister, Alleen Kocsis. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Dr. Brown and Dr. Windsor and all the nurses and staff at St. Alexius Medical Center.
