Patty A. Nation

Patty A. Nation, 55, Encampment, WY, died December 25, 2014, at Sanford Health in Bismarck. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at 3:00 PM at Faith Lutheran Church in Bismarck with Rev. Jon Splichal Larson officiating. The family will greet visitors on Monday from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Eastgate Funeral Service. Patty was born on June 1, 1959 in Zeeland, ND, the daughter of Elmer and Berniece Thurn. She was raised and attended school in Bismarck, ND, where she graduated from Century High School in 1977. Patty went on to earn her bachelor's degree in architecture from the ND State School of Science in Whapeton, ND, and later worked at Mandan Steel Fabricators until she started her own business and contracted with many different companies with whom she was very well-respected. Because of this, Patty was able to work remotely from her home in Encampment, WY, where she lived with her husband Bimbo, whom she married in 2009. There, they have built a beautiful log home together overlooking the mountains, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and doing anything that involved her spectacular creativity including arts and crafts, painting, and decorating their home. Patty's biggest devotion was the love to her family. Her two children, five grandchildren, and five step-grandchildren are the center of her life and Patty made seeing them a top priority. Also, Patty and her five sisters are always up to something fun and loved their time together! When she was home to visit, you couldn't find her without one of her beloved sisters! Patty had a heart as big as you can imagine and always cared for everyone. She liked to see others happy and would do what she could to make that happen! Patty was very selfless and others focused, beautiful woman both inside and out and her smile would light up the darkest room. Further, Patty was a true American and loved her country as well as the soldiers who fought for it. She had a deep respect and admiration for those who served and wasn't afraid to show it. Patty is survived by husband, Bimbo Nation, Encampment, WY; two children, Ryan Jensen, Bismarck, ND, Melissa Pedersen, Lakeville, MN; her mother, Berniece Thurn, Lincoln, ND; three step-daughters, Stacy York, Idaho Springs, CO, Sheryl Herrington, Newton, TX, and Stephanie Neuman, Cheyenne, WY; five grandchildren, Caleb, Connor, Chase, Cade Pedersen and Grace Jensen, five step-grandchildren, Stella, Sage York and Luke, Josiah, Brystol Herrington; and five sisters, Paulette Thurn, Bismarck, Phyllis Piatz, Bismarck, Penny Holland, Jamestown, Pam Hanson, Williston, and Peggy Posey, Omaha, NE. Patty was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Thurn; an infant brother; and an infant granddaughter.
