Ronald Sayler

Ronald "Red" Sayler, 60, Bismarck, died May 20, 2007, north of Isabel, SD. After hundred of thousands of miles, Red rode his Harley into heaven after completing his 3rd "Iron Butt" run with his beloved wife. Services will be held at 10:00 am Friday at First United Methodist Church, Bismarck, with Rev. Kermit Culver officiating. Private family burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm Thursday, May 24, 2007, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Red was born on April 23, 1947, in Eureka, SD, the son of Ervin and Alice Bauer Sayler. He attended country school in Eureka. Red married Norma Vetsch on June 22, 1969 at Wishek, ND; they made their home in Bismarck. Red went to work for the Patterson Land Company. Later he worked for various construction companies doing concrete work for various rural power plants. He also finished concrete for the construction of the Expressway Bridge. Due to health reasons, Red retired in 2006. Red enjoyed hunting and camping with his family, riding motorcycles with his many friends, and daily morning coffee followed by a couple games of pinochle. He enjoyed time spent visiting with all of his friends. Red was a member of the Patriot Guard Riders and Central Dakota HOG Chapter and life-long member of ABATE of ND. Papa Red's greatest enjoyment in life was playing, entertaining, teaching, always providing M & M's, and having his grandchildren retrieve his cell phone in his shirt pocket. Red loved to live life to the fullest and had the quality to make each person he knew feel special. Red will be deeply missed for his great big smile and hugs. Red is survived by his wife of 38 years, Norma Sayler of Bismarck, ND; his daughter, Rhonda Derek Knoll Sayler of Bismarck; his triplet sons, James and Angie Green Sayler of Hazen, ND, John and Angie Johnson Sayler, and Jeffrey and Paula Berg Sayler, all of Bismarck, ND; his grandchildren, Landen, Kayla, Parker, Kaden, Jordan, and future baby girl, Peyton; his sister, Maralou Haas of Rapid City, SD; his brother, Joel Margie Sayler of Eureka, SD; his father-in-law, Joe Vetsch; four nephews; and two nieces all of South Dakota. Red was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and and Alice Sayler; his mother-in-law, Adelia Vetsch; his sister, Ivaione; and his favorite pet dog, Charlie. All riders welcome to ride our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend home.
