Sally Bartholome

Celestine “Sally” Jahner Bartholome passed away on August 10, 2009, at El Castillo Retirement Residence in Santa Fe, New Mexico, her home since 2002. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 17, at 11:30 AM at Church of Corpus Christi in Bismarck with Rev. Paul Becker officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 – 9:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a Rosary will be said at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Sally was born on October 3, 1912, to Julius and Elizabeth Deis in Russia; her family moved to America in 1913. She was educated at Temvik School, Capital Commercial College in Bismarck and Valley City State Teacher’s College. Sally was a school teacher and she worked for JC Penney Company for 29 years. In 1942, she married Pius Jahner who passed away in 1969. In 1971, she married Walter Bartholome who passed away in 2002. In Bismarck, Sally was an active and involved member of Corpus Christi Church and Catholic Daughters of America; Sally and Walter led the rosary daily for many years at Corpus Christi. She was an active member and officer of the St. Francis Circle of Corpus Christi. In Bismarck and Santa Fe, Sally was well known for her beautiful arts and crafts pieces, especially for her Faberge-style eggs and bookmarks. Sally loved to crochet, sew, dance, play cards, cook, bake, and entertain; she especially enjoyed setting beautiful tables for special occasions. She enjoyed life with her family and many friends who miss her. Sally is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Allen J. “Al” and Kathy Jahner of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Roderic R. “Rod” and Cindy Jahner of Wake Forest, North Carolina; two grandsons, Kyle and Corey Jahner of Raleigh, North Carolina; one daughter-in-law, Sue Bartholome of Bismarck; one sister, Mary Anderson of Lisbon; three brothers, Clem, Frank Rosina, and Aloysius Cecilia, all of Linton; one sister-in-law, Stella Bartholome of Fargo; and one brother-in-law, John Edith Bartholome of Santa Rosa, California. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and a special friend, Sister Ivo Schoch of Bismarck. Sally’s parents; one infant brother; and her sisters, Rose Lipp, Caroline Serr, and Frances Jahner preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sally’s name to El Castillo Retirement Residence Endowment Fund, 250 E. Alameda, Santa Fe NM 87501.
