Shirley Ann Unterseher

Shirley Ann Unterseher passed away on June 20, 2012, at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, North Dakota, just three short days after a fatal brain hemorrhage occurred. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held on Monday, June 25th, 2012, at 10:00 am at the Seventh Day Adventist church, 1109 N 26th Street, Bismarck, ND, with Pastor Odea Sigh, Jr. officiating. Graveside services will be held at 5 PM at the Wayside Cemetery in Bowdon, ND, followed by fellowship time at the Bowdon Community Center. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm Sunday, June 24, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. Shirley Ann Unterseher, the daughter of Adam and Sylvia Butts Buchmiller, was born on March 15, 1932. Shirley attended the Sheyenne River Academy for the first three years of high school and transferred to Bowdon Public High School where she graduated in 1950. She married her high school sweetheart, Arlo Unterseher, of Bowdon, ND, on October 4, 1951. Arlo took his bride directly to the farm south of Bowdon where she perfected her skills in cow milking, running the combine harvester and other homemaking skills. Arlo and Shirley's union of love was blessed with five children. The first of their many family memories were at the softball diamonds, Canadian fishing trips, and camping near Jamestown. Shirley was a jack of all trades and a master of all. Some of her more prominent talents include being a fantastic cook especially German foods, oil painting artist, hairdresser, excellent seamstress, interior decorator including making beautiful flower arrangements, singer, gardener and upholsterer. She could build, fix, repair or re-upholster anything. In fact, she was known to tear a washing machine apart to repair it. However, nothing could compare to the homemade pickles, sausage and grandma jelly she made for the family. Out of Mom's many talents, there is no doubt she was best at shopping and traveling. She always had a bag packed and was ready to travel in a moment's notice. Although Mom may have been technically 80 years old, she did not act a day over 60, and lived life to its fullest. Beyond all of her gifts, Shirley's greatest joy was caring for and being with her family. Shirley is survived by her husband, Arlo of 60 years; her daughter, Launa Kelly Moldenhauer, Bismarck, and their children, Jody Robb Eckert and Chad Stacy Moldenhauer; her daughter, Lori Rick Woodward, Mandan, and their children, Sheena Johnson fiancé -Kipp Kambeitz, Rikki Justin Bosh and Bobbi Adam Hall; her son, Todd Jill Unterseher, Bismarck, and their children, Mitch, Aaron, and Kylee Unterseher fiancé - Jeff Litton; and her son, Kyle Claire Unterseher, Chicago, and their children, Jack, Emma, Kate and Adam Unterseher; her daughter-in-law Cathy Unterseher, Bowdon, and Cathy and Wade's children, Slade, Cassidy, and Cheyenne Riley Schriefer ; and six great-grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Wade; her parents; her sisters, Geraldine LeMert and LaVern Seibert; and her brother, Clinton.
