Timothy Allen Kringstad

Timothy Allen Kringstad, 51, Orange, CT, and longtime beloved companion to Sherri Giambra, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at Milford Hospital. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 3, at First Presbyterian Church, Bismarck, with Rev. Jake Kincaid officiating. Burial will be held at 10:00 am Monday, March 5, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. There will be a gathering for friends and family from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm Friday, March 2, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm. Tim was born on January 9, 1961, in Valley City, ND, the son of Edroy and Faye Moore Kringstad. Tim was raised and attended schools in Bismarck, where he graduated from Century High School in 1979. He attended BSC and continued his education at the University of North Dakota. Tim then returned to Bismarck State College where he received his power plant technology training. Throughout his school years and college, Tim excelled in athletics, participating in football, wrestling, and track. All his coaches left an impression on his life, in particular, Stan Halling, Roger Reinbold, Al Breuer, Gene Boyle, Rockie Stavn and Milo Trusty. Tim served with the US Army Reserves from 1981-1987 in North Dakota and then with the US Army Ready Reserves in Connecticut. Tim worked for over 26 years at First Light Power Resources formerly Northeast Utilities. Tim loved vacationing at the family lake home in North Dakota and visiting family in Wisconsin. He was also a dedicated and enthusiastic Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan. Through his church and with his daughter, Samantha, he went on a mission trip to Juarez, Mexico. Together, they built a home for a family that left a lasting impact on Tim and Samantha's lives. Tim had a gift for lighting up a room and with his generous and selfless spirit, he always put everyone ahead of himself. He never met a kid that he didn't want to wrestle and was fun-loving and good -natured. Tim was a devoted, loving, and sweet companion, son, and father, and he will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents and companion, Sherri, he is survived by his daughter, Samantha and his other children, Michael and Jennifer Giambra; paternal grandmother, Alice Kringstad Vik; brother, Thomas Liz Kringstad, MN; his sister, Sommer Collins, TN; his special niece, Sydney; also his in-laws, Chuck and Barbara Williams; brothers-in-law, Chuck, George, and Wayne Williams and Ronald Steeves; sisters-in-law, Lorri Steeves, Darlene and Sandy Williams; beloved dogs, Brady and Maya; and many other loving nieces, nephews, family and friends. Tim was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lura and Ed Moore and Ernest Kringstad. Memorials may be given to Elks Camp Grassick, BSC Foundation, or the North Dakota State Veterans Cemetery Foundation.
