Viola Opp

A much-loved mother and grandmother, Viola Opp died March 5, 2011 at the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck, ND. Funeral services will be held at the Bismarck Baptist Church on Saturday, March 12 at 11am with her Grandson, Pastor Trinity Opp and Rev. Merle Hoots officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be held at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, on Friday, March 11 from 7pm to 8pm and will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Viola was born May 2, 1931 on a farm near Venturia, ND, the daughter of Adam and Barbara Rudolph. This is the area where she grew up and received her education. On November 15, 1951 Viola and Delbert Opp were united in marriage at the Ashley Baptist Church. They farmed until October 1969, when they moved to Bismarck. Viola worked and retired at Dan's Super Valu. After several months of retirement she missed the interaction with the public and returned to the workforce at Medcenter One cafeteria for a few more years of employment. Viola was a member of Bismarck Baptist Church. She was an employee of the church, worked as an AWANA leader, and enjoyed her quilting group. Viola was a devoted wife and a caring and loving mother and grandmother. Her Faith, Family, and Friends were all important in her life. Grandma was a prayer warrior and prayer was an important part of her life. Viola looked forward to meeting her Savior and today we can rejoice in knowing that she is with Jesus! Viola and Delbert were blessed with five sons. She is survived by her five sons and four daughters-in-law, Glen & Marcy of Aberdeen, SD, Kevin & Cindy of Phoenix, AZ, Rick & Carol of Bismarck, ND, LaMont of Gilbert, AZ, and Mark & Amy of Alexandria, MN; her grandchildren, Tracy, Trinity & Gwen, Nicole & Demian, Heather, Laura & Nick, Kelly, Sheridan, Ford, and Katherine; her great-grandchildren, Cory, Jenna, Josiah, Grace, and Ava, and three sisters, Leone & Lou Spiering, Marlene & LeRoy Goehring, and Alice & Joe Wojtysiak. Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert on June 26, 2008, parents, Adam & Barbara Rudolph and two brothers, Friedrich & Russell in infancy.
