William Bill R Sadowsky

William R. "Bill" Sadowsky, 87, Bismarck, formerly of Dickinson, died August 19, 2011, at his home with his family at his side. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, August 24, at Church of the Ascension, 1825 S 3rd St, Bismarck, with Rev. Jim Braaten officiating. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm Tuesday, August 23, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil will begin at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Bill was born September 16, 1923, at the family homestead in Dunn County, the son of Louis V. and Mary Jablonsky Sadowsky. He was raised in Dunn County and attended school at New Hradec, ND, until the eighth grade, and graduated from Model High School in Dickinson. Bill went on to serve in the U.S. Army in the European Theater during WWII from 1944-1946. Bill married Pauline Roshau on November 10, 1948. The family lived in Dunn County, where Bill farmed and ranched all of his life until he retired in 1996. Bill and Pauline moved to Bismarck in 2009. Bill was a member of the Catholic War Veterans, Catholic Workman, Knights of Columbus, and served many years on the board of directors of West Plains Electric. Bill was also a lifetime member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church in New Hradec, ND, and recently joined the Church of the Ascension. Bill loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, especially cheering for the Green Bay Packers. He also enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren's sporting events. He could always strike up a conversation with anyone he would meet. Bill is survived by his wife, Pauline, Bismarck; his children, Dennis Cathy, Bristol , CT, Linda Dennis Gleich, Baldwin, ND, Billy Nancy, Bottineau, ND, Marvin Karla, Marilyn Brian Mertz, and Paulette Dean Kerzmann, all of Bismarck, ND; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Bertha Bahley and Georgia Tom Huschka; sister-in-law, Lillian Sadowsky, all of Dickinson, ND; and brother, Ray Irene Sadowsky, Colorado Springs, CO; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant brothers; brother, Alfred J. Sadowsky; brother-in-law, Robert Bahley; nephew, Mark Sadowsky; and nieces, Kelly Huschka and Arlys Bahley.
